The LCANZ’s Executive Officer – Local Mission since 2016, Tania will succeed Pastor Richard Fox at the helm of the multi-media ministry outreach arm of the church. Richard, who has led Lutheran Media for 11 years, is returning to parish ministry, at Glynde in South Australia. Read more A fixture in many homes and churches across the LCANZ, the Lutheran Hymnal turns 50 this year. The treasured and popular volume of hymns, liturgy, prayers, worship orders and information was first published by Lutheran Publishing House in October 1973. Events and celebrations marking the anniversary are being held from this weekend. Read more Australian Lutheran College is seeking applications from ordained pastors for the position of principal. Australian Lutheran College is calling for submissions from potential presenters for its 2024 Festival of Learning, from 20 to 22 February. The theme, ‘Challenging boundaries – life at the edges’, is inspired by Jesus crossing boundaries to engage with people. Do you ever feel awkward, ill-equipped, unqualified, or unprepared to share the gospel? If you answered ‘yes’, a Gospel Fluency Workshop might be a great blessing for you and your congregation! Offered by LCANZ Local Mission, the Gospel Fluency workshops are designed to give you a vocabulary, context and some actual practice in sharing the good news in words and actions with those around you. In-person facilitation of the workshop is available, or you can receive training to lead the workshop in your context. Find out more The LCA is implementing Child Safety Standards across all congregations in Australia, designed to drive cultural change and create, maintain, and improve child-safe practices. The church has released a new resource supporting standards 2 and 6 – a feedback form. Find the feedback form, plus more resources, at www.lca.org.au/css General Church Board has approved a statement on Caring for Creation. All entities of the church are asked to promote the paper within their communities and implement its guiding principles in their local settings. The statement is available on the LCA website (Volume 3, Section H) or click here to download. School principal Darren Stevenson has long known the benefits of intergenerational relationships. So, with his mum – retired teacher Gill Stevenson – he introduced a program that sees a group of Lutheran ‘grannies’ teach English to children, many of whom are refugees.
