'At the beginning of John’s Gospel, we hear the deepest assurance of Good Friday faith: "In him was life, and that life was the light of all humankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it"', Bishop Paul says. 'Only from the darkness of Good Friday can our eyes recognise the dawning light of Easter resurrection.'
