Brett will fulfil a long-term wish to work for the church when he becomes the next EOC early next year. He will succeed Peter Schirmer, who has served as EOC since 2012 and has resigned in order to pursue other opportunities. Read more LCANZ Reconciliation Ministry is embarking on a new phase of ongoing development. Recently the General Church Board resolved to change the way the ministry operates, moving it away from a departmental model. Pastor Paul Kerber’s call to serve as Assistant to the Bishop – Reconciliation Ministry will conclude on 31 December 2021. Specific details of how the ministry will be transitioned are still to be determined. Read more As part of the LCANZ’s commitment to pastors and the communities they serve, the General Church Board has approved a policy designed to strengthen the church’s support in the formation and equipping of pastoral ministry candidates. The initiative involves candidates taking part in a comprehensive psychological assessment. It has the backing of the Pastoral Studies Stream at Australian Lutheran College. Read more In Memoriam WILTON FRANK QUAST (24/9/1944–9/11/2021) The General Church Board has announced that the in-person sessions of the 20th Convention of General Synod will be held from 9 to 12 February 2023 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The later-than-anticipated date is due to the unavailability of the convention centre at a time suitable to the LCANZ. More information will be announced as details become available. We will farewell Pastor John Henderson as Churchwide Bishop at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 28 Muller Rd, Greenacres SA, on Sunday 5 December at a 10am regular congregational service.
