Click here Worship resources for this Sunday, 21 OctoberIn a Heartland eNews this week LCA Bishop John Henderson has encouraged congregations to reflect on the National Apology, due to be delivered by Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Monday 22 October. The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse identified the Lutheran Church of Australia as one of the churches failing to provide children with adequate protection from abuse. During the recent General Convention of Synod delegates paused to reflect and repent. The devotion liturgy used at Convention and additional resources are available on the Worship Planning Page. Bear in mind that this reflection might stir strong emotions and memories for some people. Please announce early in the service that prayers will be offered later in the service, in order to allow your congregation to mentally and spiritually prepare. Synod says 'no' to ordination of womenAt General Convention of Synod, 161 delegates voted against the resolution to ordain both men and women; 240 supported it. (A two-thirds majority was required for it to be passed.) The College of Bishops and General Church Board are meeting this week. Please pray for our leaders and for everyone experiencing strong emotions about the vote.
